33 Week Belly, and Musings About the Belly Button

A 14-week picture, for comparison.

As I'm typing, the kid is doing a jig inside my uterus. I think I can tell the difference between her butt and her legs but that's about it. When I put my hand on my belly I can sometimes tell for SURE that it's limbs moving around...they just feel long, narrow, and strong!! But usually I feel kind of disoriented, and I wish I knew what she was up to in there.

So I have this aversion to belly buttons. They gross me out. I dread having mine turn into an outie. So far so good, though it's definitely become flatter and more stretched out. I hope I can deal with the whole umbilical-cord-falling-off thing.

Did 2 miles (24 minutes) on the elliptical today, and then some squats and other things for my legs. All in all, an hour or so of working out. So I think I'm back to a routine I'm comfortable with, that even makes me sweat a little, and I should be sore tomorrow as an added bonus!

And I'm back to just expecting her to come around her due date, because if I get my hopes up that she's a little early (like Thanksgiving...which is in 4 weeks!), I'm bound to still be pregnant in January. (And if the kid is like me, she'll want to stick it to the doctor and prove that he was wrong and we knew what was going on the whole time. Uh-oh, I could be in for trouble with this one...)

Haha, stick it to the doctor. That's great. Love it. Well your lucky your belly button hasn't come out yet!! Maybe it won't! I think they are gross too. But breastfeeding is the main thing that really makes me cringe!!! I keep thinking about it! It is probably good to tell yourself you will deliver on the due date so that if she comes early it will be great! I love your 14 weeks post, you have nothing to show! The 33 weeks is still looking like all baby! I can't believe you can tell the difference with what is going on in there, I just started to feel the baby moving more and higher up! It is so cool!

You look great! My bellybutton never stuck out, so you may well escape it :-)

The good news about the belly button is that it goes back in right away after you give birth... well, within like 2 days for me anyway. The bad news about the belly button is dealing with your daughters until the cord falls off. Kinda yucky!

You look great! The big day will be here before you know it. Good luck with the home stretch.

My belly button didn't pop out at all during pregnancy, in the whole 41.5 weeks she was in there. It might never happen!

My belly button never popped out, so maybe you'll be lucky! The umbilical cord thing is kind of gross if you don't like them ;).

Beautiful belly - still so small but definitely preggie. I like the comparison with the 14 wk pic.

I know what you mean about trying to identify body parts when the baby moves. I could sometimes find Austin's butt - and if I rubbed it he'd stop moving so much - and his feet were usually easy to identify as hard little lumps right up under my ribs. But I remember being amazed at one visit to the midwife where she ran her hands quickly over my belly, then pointed out his feet, legs, butt, back, shoulders, and one of his arms, and told me he was in launch position with his head engaged - all in a minute or two. I think I was about 34 weeks at that point.

It's neat to think of them moving around in there...sleeping, listening to your voice, just hanging out with you. Austin sucked on one hand so much he had a blister on it when he was born.

I think belly buttons are kind of cool now, but I don't think I felt that way until I had a baby. I like to look at his and think about how that was his connection to me. But yeah, the whole umbilical cord stump thing is a little icky. Fortunately, it heals and falls off pretty fast (about 10 days for Austin).

Belly buttons I'm fine with. Breast feeding I'm sure I can cope with. But the umbilical cord thingy...that could send me over.

Hope you're keeping well. You're certainly looking fabulous.

I escaped the belly button woes with pregnancy #1, but not now with #2. I swear, if one more complete stranger makes a comment about that "turkey" being done, I'm going to lose it!

Best of luck for the last few weeks :)
