Weigh in...

Double meaning in the title here.

First, my appetite has regulated (in some cases disappeared), and I've gone from 151 to 147 in a week, and stayed there. I wonder how much of the extra weight was water, as I think I've been peeing a lot more too! Whereas I used to have trouble with afternoon workouts because I'd always eaten too much, lately I find myself going into workouts realizing I am hungry. Not a better scenario! Need to get that discipline back.

Second, check out this post on Runners World's online forums, and the subsequent comments. Interesting. I have an opinion about the original poster, but I wonder if I would have had a kinder one had this been posted during my own pregnancy instead of after?

12 lbs?! Yeah, I have my opinions too.

Very nice work on you bouncing back. Keep up that discipline!

Wow, that runners world forum thread makes you think a lot about how we perceive ourselves and others when it comes to exercise and pregnancy! crazy.

and I hear you on the eating habits thing, I struggle with that all the time! too much, not enough, not the right stuff, etc. :-D

HA - I belong to a private running forum and we were talking about this woman yesterday. I definitely have my opinion about her too. It makes me really sad, honestly, that this seems to be her focus post-partum. And the comment about her "thin" baby .

I always enjoy reading your blog and hearing all the wonderful physical things you are doing with RA in your life. My RA is taking a break and I am totally enjoying being back on my bike everyday.

Congrats on the weight!

You lost your appetite? I'm always fascinated when this happens to people because it's never happened to me. I can't even phathom it.

I've never come across that woman before your link. I read her article and thought "How did she do stomach exercises the day before she was due? I thought that was a huge no-no?" and when she was talking about how easy it was I thought "Lucky b*tch. Try having an emergency c-section." It wasn't until I read the comments that I realized she only gained 12 pounds. Wow. That's scary and I just thought she was happy her baby was long, and didn't realize until reading the comments that she was happy she's skinny - that's horrible.

Congrats to you on your weight loss though!

Holy sh*t that's a response and a half. I'm off to read her blog! I put on at least 30lb. I had to stop weighing myself. I totally embraced the stuffing of the face :-) :-)

The low weight gain would concern me but some of the replies seem really harsh

Most of the blogs I read had some body concerns post partum - she shouldn't think about it at all? That's not fair.

And the first post seemed fine without knowing backstory... I think there's stuff going on I didn't know about (like the weight gain) that led to harsher treatment than that first post warranted.

There's nothing wrong with being happy about how things go without constant thinking about who might not have it so well... I mean, geez, if someone has it better than me I'm happy for them not mad they mentioned it!

(note: I just skimmed. I didn't see a "thin" baby comment. And I sure don't know back story or all the details)
