I did a 2 hour ride Sunday morning, which also might have contributed...I need to look at my cycling shoes because I think there's a lot of pressure right on that joint.
I am 37. I have rheumatoid arthritis. Having RA doesn't mean I can't also be an athlete. I have a daughter, Andra Kate, born 12/12/08, and am due with daughter #2 due 12/12/12.

Ouch, I hope you can continue with the pred taper, that stuff is such a pain :-p
Oh, do I know that big toe pain, Clare. The one on my right foot used to flare on a regular basis. I walked on it, but with a terrible, pronounced limp--the very idea of RUNNING on it, even with cushioning, makes me cringe and my stomach flip-flops.
Sending you some warm hugs and a large dose of comfort. I hope the pain goes soon. Also, I'm sending you a little extra resolve so tapering down the prednisone while keeping your pain under control is a bit easier.
Namaste.
heels down when cycling. That helps relieve the pressure on the ball of the foot and thus sesamoids.
Bonus, you get more power. I find that it's easier to do in the drops--even though my hands and wrists don't much agree with that long term.
